The NANF Grassroot Football Project (NGFP) is the youth development scheme established the National Association of Nigerian Footballers (NANF) for the training and education of young footballers.
The NGFP" carries out its functions under two schemes namely:
(1) The "school to football pitch programme
(2) The "Youth Football development centres"
(a) The "School to football pitch" programme entials sending out of coaches (Lx-footballers) to schools to teach young footballers the basic skills of football while ensuring that their Educational interest are not jeopardized;
(b) The "Youth football development centres" is focussed on the development of young footballers between the ages of 10-21 yrs through the existing structures of the youth football teams. Fach centres consist of an average of Ten.
(10) Youth teams affiliated to the scheme on local community basis. As at today, the "NGFP" is the single largest, youth football development programme in Nigeria made up of large number of young footballers.
NGFP GOAL / OBJECTIVES
The National Association of Nigeria Footballers (NANF) is not only interest in the protection and promotion of players interest and welfare. The players union is equally interested in the development of the skills and intellect of footballers, because the wellhre of members is a furetion of the development of the game and its practitioners from the grassroot to top level football.
The "NGFP"' is therefore set up too achieve the following objectives:
(1) Train and discover talented young foothallers both and outside the school environment.
(2) To train and improve the knowledge of football coache, especially those at the grassroot through seminars / workshop, and courses.
(3) To create a common financial pool through sponsorship, for the benefits of member youth teams affillited to the project to boot their programmes.
(4) To articulate and promote a well co-ordinated development programmes amongst the various youth teams.
(5) To work towards the promotion of rules and regulations or laws that would protect young footballers and ensure that youth football teams are compensated for training investment on young footballers technically and materially.
(6) To expose and market football talent to the world through our internet programme fifpronet.
(7) In collaboration with the youth football teams eradicate thec culture of age falsification from our football.
(8) Provide counselling and management services to every potential footballers who wish to take football as a career.
NGFP UNIQUENESS
(I) The "NGFP" runs both developmental programmes and football competitions .
(2) The NGFP is runned and managed solely by the masters (Ex footballers) it is the masters at work".
(3) The "NGFP" is in technical partnership with other sister unions,development programmes all over the world. E.g. The PFA England Youth development scheme.
(4) The NGFP is in technical partnership with other
private youth football development scheme e.g football frenzy of England and
Republic of Malta.
(5) The "NGFP" has the largest network of youth football teams aflliatc, in Nigeria. In other words it has the largest concentration of young players in Nigeria.
(6) The "NGFP" provides the most comprehensive services to young players through its technical and welfare programmes.
(7) The NGFP is the only youth football programmes which focus on the development of players skills and intellect simultaneously.
(8) The "NGFP" is the largest employer of Ex-footballers turned coaches.
(9) The "NGFP" is the only youth football programme designed to encourage professionalism through viability at the grassroot.
WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR "NGFP"
(I) You can contribute to the financial pool of the NGFP for the development of Grassroot programmes through donation and sponsorship (2) You can enter into technical and commercial business deals for the benefit of both parties.
E.g
(a) Supplies of training kits and football equipment
(b) Training and development of personnels and coaches.
(c) Advertisment and promotion of production and services of sponsors
(d) Sponsorship NGFP programmes
(e) Supplies of football talent to sponsors.
