The footballers companion is a handbook for footballers published by the center for advance football science (Cafs) for national association of Nigerian footballers (Nanf) as a recourse material for educating every young footballer coming into the game on the virtues of professionalism in football as a means of equipping them to cope with physical and intellectual demands of professional football.
So much have been writing on the technical and tactics of football without a corresponding measures or emphasis on the final issues of football, which will lay the foundation upon which techniques and tactics can be built upon effectively.
In other words we have been training without educating our players by concentration the training on the psychomotor objectives of learning without any attention given to the cognitive and effective objectives.
The footballer's companion, which is recommended to coaches, administrators, players and managers, is designed to address the flaw inherent in this one way traffic kind of training.
